Vehicle Shipping from UK to Malaysia

Malaysia has many import requirements in order to import a vehicle. To import a car into Malaysia, you must apply for an Approval Permit (AP) from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). This import license requires the car to be registered in the applicant’s home country.

When shipping to Malaysia, you need to: 

• Apply for an Approval Permit
• Pass the PUSKAPOM car inspection
• Pay the required customs duties
• Support your application with the necessary documentation
• Have a valid work permit for the country
• Be importing the vehicle for personal use only; the car cannot be sold or transferred in Malaysia
• Export the car out of Malaysia when employment in the country ends

Upon arrival in Malaysia, the car must be collected in person from the port. The car is inspected by PUSKAPOM, the Malaysian vehicle inspection agency. A bill of lading and the Approved Permit must be presented at the inspection. The IVIC inspection will check various things about the vehicle, such as make and model, fuel type and odometer readings.
